WEF President Expects to Sign Agreement with Cambodia in the Near Future

Switzerland: World Economic Forum President Klaus Schwab has confirmed that he will visit Cambodia to see firsthand Cambodia's progress as he hopes to sign an agreement to establish a hub by the World Economic Forum with Cambodia. This was confirmed by Klaus Schwab to Prime Minister Hun Sen in a meeting on Tuesday morning, 24 May in Switzerland.

During the meeting, Klaus Schwab said that he was invited by the G20 countries to attend the G20 meeting in Indonesia, which is a good opportunity for him to visit and see the progress of Cambodia. He added that he also wants to establish a hub by the World Economic Forum which has been established in other countries such as the United States, China, and Japan.

He said, "Through this hub, we will be able to take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution, which requires the use of many technologies. Furthermore, through the establishment of this hub, it will be possible to use the latest technology as applied in other countries, such as the implementation of the use of drones to transport emergency medicine to remote areas and drones used in the agriculture sector, and so on. There will also be some jobs that use technology with the banking system."

He hopes to work with Cambodia and to be able to sign an agreement between Cambodia and the World Economic Forum in the near future, especially when he comes to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen assigned officials to work with the officials of the World Economic Forum on this case. The Prime Minister also welcomed the presence of Klaus Schwab to Cambodia, saying that when he comes to Cambodia, he would see the progress of Cambodia after recovering from the devastation of the war. So Klaus Schwab would see firsthand the development of Cambodia after achieving "peace".

Prime Minister Hun Sen left Cambodia in the early morning on Saturday 21 May to go to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum. The Prime Minister will also deliver a closing speech with stakeholders on "Strategic Perspectives on ASEAN" and at an informal luncheon with world economic leaders under the theme "Restoring Peace and Order" which will take place on 22-26 May 2022, in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
